We roll our own transformers using the layered technique, with paper between layers. This is a very labor intensive way to do things, but the quality of the result justifies the effort.

Below is some photos from the Kit 2 Mk2 build. The layout of the circuit is spacious and simple.

Above you see the three preamp tubes with their associated components and below the layout around the output tubes. The John E. Fast capacitor is not shown on the schematic. It is an add on to enhance the high frequency response of the push-pull output stage.

Above you see the inside view of the binding posts with the OPT secondaries and the Negative Feedback Loop connected. The NFB loop is only connected after the amplifier has been built and tested for electronic problems. Once the amplifier plays music fine, the NFB loop is attached to the first triode’s cathode. See the schematic for details.
